Wow.

I am aware that I have left this site almost totally untouched for quite some time now -_- But now I'm rather determined to get it back up and running. I have decided to change the concept of the blog.. Instead of commenting on what other's wear, I will now choose to suggest cheaper alternatives to outfits seen worn by celebrities or even TV Show characters! I will mostly choose clothes from online stores such as topshop.com or forever21.com. So yeah, check back soon! (:

GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS 2009.

Ah, sorry for the late update.
School recently started for me again,
and I was busy with other things.

So yeah,
the Golden Globes happened a little less than a week ago,
which means,
lots of gowns to blog about =D
My personal dream is to dress celebrities for events like this next time x)
Won't it be nice, like, if the interviewer asks the celebrity,
"Who are you wearing?"
And the celebrity proudly says the name of my label xD
HAHAHA.
Hey a girl can dream, hey? (:

Anyway!
As usual,
award shows like this have their share of hits and misses.

First up!
A few of my personal favourites:

Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta.
I love love love the simplicity of the gown..
And the way her fair skin contrasts with the dark-coloured dress.

Tiny Fey in Roberto Cavalli.
Yet another simple gown..
I love the halter-neck strap.

Anne Hathaway in Armani Privé.
Not only is this a gorgeous colour,
I love the silhouette, and the sparkly detail on the bodice..
Although I think Ms Hathaway could do with a little bit of a tan,
she still looks gorgeous.

Eva Longoria in Reem Acra.
Red red red red red!
The red of the dress is even more vibrant than the red on the red carpet xD
Hm, a lot of strapless gowns on the carpet tonight, eh?

Miley Cyrus in Marchesa.
I love the gown..
I love how it's age-appropriate (the dress itself..) for the 16-year-old..
I love Miley's hair!
I do not like how there's a little too much cleavage going on there.
Pull your dress up a little, Miley, and it'll be perfect.

Beyonce in Elie Saab.
This gown is very Cleopatra for some reason.
It also looks like it's made out of baskets xD
Still love it, nontheless.

Kate Beckinsale in J.Mendel.
Although I'm still trying to decide if the ruffles at the top are a little too much,
I adore the mermaid-tail skirt,
and I envy the fact that she can wear such a glowing shade of white,
and still look perfectly thin!

Looks that caused mixed feelings of mine...

Vanessa Hudgens in Alberta Ferretti.
First of all, stand up straight, Vanessa. You'd look way better.
Secondly, again, a fan of simplicity and sparkle.
What's causing the mixed feelings is the colour of the garment.
Isn't it a little too close to her own skin tone?
I guess that's not too much of a bad thing anyway.

Jennifer Lopez in Marchesa.
A little too gold and velvet-y for my liking,
but the diva pulls it off.
I still think the material would look better as curtains.

And of course, those that I did not like:

Heidi Klum.
It's that rose there!
Okay, I know your hubby has a song about a rose,
but that's no excuse!
And is she pregnant? Not sure.

Cameron Diaz in Chanel.
Although I adore that shade of pink,
I think the gown is sort of a little too fussy..
And looks like it was put together at the last minute.
And wasn't pressed.
Sorry, Lagerfeld.

Maggie Gyllenhaal in Lanvin.
......
Uhm. Yeah.

VERSACE pre-fall 2009.

However you may think it's pronounced, Versace is definitely one of the most well-known designer labels out there. This comes as no surprise, as its simple yet elegant designs are easily appealing and in one collection, there will always be something for almost anybody, and for many different occasions.
Style.com review:
NEW YORK, December 15, 2008By Nicole Phelps
Donatella Versace mined her brother's couture archives for the star prints that decorated her pre-fall collection, but the silhouettes—graphic little coats with contrast piping and even tinier cocktail dresses—were all hers. Everything was strictly above the knee, save for a handful of not-for-the-faint-of-heart awards season gowns, the best of which came in black lace with a slit up to there and a star detailed in peekaboo mesh on the torso.
The aforementioned gown is this stunning number:
Definitely not for the faint of heart.
In my opinion, it's a little too revealing to wear to a formal awards ceremony.
But hey, to each her own x)
Some of the star-print dresses:

And of course, a few of my personal favourites:

Love shade of pink..

A cute aqua dress,
something a girl between the ages of 16 and 25 might wear.
I think, paired with a cute wide belt cinched at the waist,
it would make a great first-date dress!

Another lovely gown,
this time, probably a little more appropriate to be worn to a swanky event like the Oscar's.

And last but not least a very uptown chic ensemble.
This look radiates power and class.
What do you think? (:

BADGLEY MISCHKA pre-fall 2009.

Earlier on in my previous post I mentioned Monique Lhuillier as one of my favourite designer. Here today I'm going to feature another one of my favourite designer label, that is Badgley Mischka. The name of the label is derived from the last names of the designers, Mark Badgley and James Mischka. This label focuses more on formal wear, like gowns and dresses (my favourite). They really come up with the most beautiful clothes, even if they are mostly quite simple.
Runway review on Style.com:
NEW YORK, December 10, 2008
By Nicole Phelps
"People keep getting married and kids keep turning 13," said James Mischka. "We just did pretty clothes that people want to wear." In other words, Badgley Mischka ignored today's apocalyptic headlines and stuck to what they know for pre-fall: bead, paillette, and feather-dusted cocktail dresses and gowns, plus a few new cocktail suits (made, the designers said, at their customers' requests). A sequined tank dress sashed high on the waist and a ruffled halter gown in the must-have shade of marigold were two highlights.
Indeed, those two gowns mentioned were really breathtaking:
I can imagine glamour icons like Nicole Kidman or Cate Blanchette strutting down the red carpet in this golden gown. However, younger starlets might wanna consider going in the other mentioned dress instead:
If you're in your twenties or even in your teens, this sequined number will be lots more age-appropriate for you. It's pretty, it's glamorous but the cut is somewhat simple. Plus, you'll save on having to splurge on bling! Less is more.
Other favourites from the pre-fall collection include:

I love the floral-like detail at the bust.
I'm having sort of mixed feelings toward this particular frock. I'm wondering if that sash-like thing at the side is necessary or not. It adds a touch of uniqueness to the dress, but somehow I feel it's a little too.. fussy.. if I may. What do you think?
Comment! (:

MONIQUE LHUILLIER pre-fall 2009.

Monique Lhuillier is one of my favourite designers out there. I just love looking at the gowns she designs, and they are usually extremely gorgeous.. Honestly, something like what I myself would come up with, as an aspiring designer myself.

Before I move on to expressing my own opinion on her pre-fall 2009 lineup, here's the review from www.style.com:

NEW YORK, December 15, 2008
By Romney Leader

Monique Lhuillier is banking on the customer looking for that special purchase. The designer injected her evening gown-heavy pre-fall lineup with many of the elements—fan-pleat rosettes, crumb-catcher necklines, elaborate folds—that her successful bridal collection is known for. Standouts included a strapless tea-length ball gown done up in ostrich feathers and a space age-y darted cocktail sheath in ultra-luxe stampati satin. Between the upcoming awards season and the Frick ball in February, which Lhuillier is sponsoring, we predict a busy few months for these frocks.

The article specifically mentions these two so-called standout frocks:

The "space age" dress,

And the one with ostrich feathers, which look more like peacock to me, haha.

The blue dress is indeed very modern and, like the article mentioned, quite 'space age-y' indeed. Paired with black pumps and stockings, it's suitable to be worn to the office, and yet it can also be a trendy cocktail dress to be worn in the evening. It's not too conservative, yet not entirely revealing either.

Now, about that ostrich/peacock gown...
It definitely gains points in terms of it being unique, but practical? I don't think so. Not unless you're Bjork and trying to re-live the swan dress days, with another different bird in mind.

Some of my personal favourites from the collection:

A simple but beautiful gown that has somewhat of a grecian feel to it. Gotta love the assymetrical neckline and that lovely shade of blue.

For some reason this particular gown looks like it jumped right out of a fairytale. It's quite easy to picture a fairytale princess such as Belle (Beauty and the Beast) or Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) waltzing in this pretty-in-pink frock. What do you think? (:

And last but not least, a stunning electric blue mermaid tail-skirt dress with tulle. A definite eye-catcher at any formal event.

Well, that's it for my very first post! Please comment!

first post ever (:

Hi there (: Welcome to The Stylette fashion blog, where everything fashion-related is discussed. So, before I continue on talking about what exactly this blog is about, let me introduce myself first =D

My name is Tammi Cherise T., and I'm a fashion student. Honestly, this whole blog thing was my mom's idea, and I thought it was cool, so here I am (: I've been into fashion since I was quite young... I loved looking at fashion magazines and the "best and worst dressed" sections in entertainment magazines and stuff. Then when I was 13, I decided that I wanted to have an actual career in fashion design.

Okay, so this blog is basically a place where I can express my opinions on fashion. Sometimes I will comment on runway photographs, other times I might take pics from online fashion stores, and, I might even take photographs myself of clothes I see in real life and put them up here (with permission from the people I photograph, of course!). I really hope you'll like my site! And please please please express your opinions on the pictures I put in comments (: Nobody is right or wrong when it comes to fashion, so don't worry about your personal opinions being put down or anything.

Right! Next up will be my very first real post (:
